Consumption
A loved one died this week. I am sad and ok and not feeling like corralling my mind into producing new work here just for the sake of productivity and keeping up with the weekly deadline, but instead am called to be quiet for a time and be with my life. This coming week, I’ll be preparing for my wild food walk and lunch next Sunday at The Waterford Inne (sold out - thank you! Still plenty of room left for other walks), and I’m sure I’ll have lots to say about that. Until then, below is what I wrote for you this week, last year - Platt’s Bank - which I think is one of the better things I’ve written in the recent past. Below that is a portion of what I have been consuming when not producing or receiving passively. Books, audiobooks, podcasts, and videos (which I am typically listening to, not actually watching, unless it is cooking). While I would rarely encourage anyone to spend more time with a screen, I do find tremendous value and enrichment in listening to other people through these digital devices, so be it. The ones I’m sharing below have been either a balm or a spark for me and provide camaraderie in this strange and sweet human experience. Maybe put one on for company while you’re driving to the river or the mountain or while you’re cooking or cleaning up from your special Sunday meal. I’m going to rake some wild blueberries and hopefully pick some mushrooms, and work in the garden, which is in classic late July disarray. See you next week. XO.
