DECEMBER 27TH (read aloud)
This piece is the third in an unplanned series that began with November First, continued with WE ARE IN THE SAME WORLD TOGETHER FOREVER, then, thanks to some really enlivening thought exchange with my friend, Maine writer, teacher, and hunting & fishing guide, Ryan Brod, about a writing workshop he asked me to co-host through Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance , I was called to stay with this story rather than move on to new ground, which I otherwise would have done. I’m glad I stayed. There was much to see. I might stay even longer.
What Ryan and I are hoping to do in this workshop is bring some of our practices and methods from the field, normally used while relating to land amd water for the locating, identifying, and harvesting of wild plants and animals, into the realm of language, and see how they can be applied to storytelling. I can say, firsthand, that this mode of thinking in just the past few months, has already brought my own writing into new and surprising places. If this is your idea of a good time and you are in the greater Portland, ME area, or have the means for a short trip, I’d sure love to have you with us. All the details and registration information are linked below. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope you all had whatever kind of holiday you wanted it to be with whoever you wanted to be with. XO
Ground Beneath Your Feet: Leveraging Landscape in Narrative Writing
Oh, and it would be a huge help if you shared this post or the link to the workshop on your socials or with New England area writerly friends if you’ve got em - thank you!

This workshop sounds so appealing. Excellent food for thought.
